  • Notes
    • I have been advised that this Thomas J. Milner is not the same one as detailed below, it probablt refers to a Thomas John Milner of the same time frame. This information is from Terry Ten Eyke 07/24/06

"The book "High Country Names" by Kingery & Arps says that T. J. Milner was prominent in railroad circles, was city engineer in Leadville in 1880, moved to Longmont where he organized the Denver & Salt Lake Western RR, designed to go up the Poudre Canyon and over Milner Pass. He then became chief engineer of the Denver Tramway Company. Moffett asked him to lay out a line up Boulder Canyon, over Rollins Pass. The only part of the survey actually used was "the spectacular double curve south of Rocky Flats" still used by the Denver & Rio Grande -- the Big Ten Curve, a portion of the road still called the Milner Line by faithful admirers of T. J. Milner."
