    • Will of Thomas Edmundson
      I Thomas Edmundson Senior of Warrington Township, York County and State of Pennsylvania considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being old infirm in body, but sound mind and understanding knowing the certainty of death and knowing the uncertainty fo the time thereof I therefore make and publish this to be my last will and testament in the manner and form as following (that is to say) First that my funeral Charges and all others of my Debts be paid; Secondly I give and bequeath unto my Wife Mary Edmundson the sum of two hundred pounds for her own use and that she may dispose of it at her decease as she shall think best. I do also give and bequeath to my eldest son William Edmundson the sum of fifty pounds. I do also give and bequeath to my eldest Daughter Hannah Farquhar the sum of five hundred pounds. I also give and bequeath to my next eldest Daughter Abigail Hussey the sum of five hundred pounds. I do likewise give and bequeath to my youngest Daughter Mary Morsell the sum of five hundred pounds. Which said several Legacies or sums of money I will and order shall be paid to the said respective Legatees within one year after my decease with this sentence that if any of estate should be lost by insolvancy or by Accident that each Legatee shall lease a proportionable share thereof. I give and Devise to my said eldest son William Edmundson all that my present Dwelling Plantation. Together with all the Rights members Hereditaments and appurtenancies whatever thereunto belonging: - He allowing my said wife free priveledge in my present dwelling house especially the stove room: To have and to hold to him my said son William Edmundson and to his Heirs and assigns forever in the same right that I hold and possess the same for which my son is to find my said wife her sufficient food and raiment and the keeping of one horse creatived for her use during her natural life. And it is also my will that my said wife shall have all of my household furniture such as Beds & beding, and kitchen furniture for own use and to dispose of as she shall think best. And I likewise will my Clock Stove Corner cupboard & desk, wagonplows and other farming utentials as also the whole of my stock to my son William Edmundson. I give and Devise to my Youngest son Thomas Edmundson all that Plantation purchased of Jacob and James Mcmillan Admins of William Griffith deceased together with all the rights members Hereditaments and Appertenancies whatever thereunto belonging. To have and to hold to him my said son Thomas Edmundson and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever in the same right that I now hold the same. And lastly I do give and bequeath to my two said sons William and Thomas all the surplus money of the estate (if there should be any) after the before mentioned Legacies and sums of money paid to be equally divided between them. And I do also hereby appoint my two sons William Edmundson and Thomas Edmundson my sole Executors of this my last will and testament herby revoking all former wills by me maded. In Witness thereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the seventeenth day of the first month of the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Nine . 1809

      By that above named Thomas Edmundson to be his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the Testator
      Abraham Byers (Bayard?) Jacob Strickel
      York County ss Before me Jacob Barnitz Registry for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of administration for the County of York in the State of Pennsylvania. Personally came Abraham Byers and Jacob Strickel the two subscribing witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of Writing and on their solemn affirmation They (really unreadable) that taking of an oath do severally say that they were Personally Present & saw and heard the above named Thomas Edmundson sign his name unto seal and Publish that foregoing Instrument of Writing as and for his Last Will and Testament and at that time of doing thereof he the said Thomas Edmundson was of a sound and disposing mind memory and understanding but of their knowledge and belief and that they subscribed their names thereto as witnesses in the Presence of the said Testator at his request and who in the Presence of each other as the sound mind. Abraham Byers and Jacob Strickel before me at York this 29th of January A. D. 1811. J. Barnitz Reg.
