Christopher and his family moved to NC in 1783. Around 1801 they settled on the Clinch River in TN. Then in 1805/06 Christopher, his brother Stephen, and some of their children moved to OH. Christopher and Mary were the first settlers of Jefferson twp, Green Co, OH.
Bowersville, OH, was laid out in 1848 on Hussey land. Christopher is buried in the Hussey Cemetery in Bowersville, OH.
VI. Christopher Hussey was born in 1756, in York County, Pennsylvania, the son of Christopher and Ann Garretson Hussey. About 1787 he married Mary Mickle, the daughter of Elijah Mickle and Mary Cox, who was born on October 2, 1761, in Pennsylvania. They lived in North Carolina for a while, then moved to Eastern Tennessee, and then finally moved to Greene County, Ohio, in 1806 or 1807. According to the Histories of Greene County, Ohio (those by R.S. Dills in 1881, by G.F. Robinson in 1902 and by M.A. Broadstone in 1918),
Christopher and Mary had the following children:
Thomas, Stephen, Elijah, Nathan, Christopher, Jacob, Polly, Sophia, Nancy, Rebecca and Elizabeth (This listing is given in Robinson). Christopher, Jr. was born in Tennessee in 1794 and the family came to Ohio in 1807 when Christopher, Jr. was about 13 years old. Christopher, Sr. brought (sic) 2700 acres of land for one dollar an acre. He died in 1812 and his body was the second one to be buried in the Old Hussey cemetery in Bowersville, Green (sic) County, Ohio. (This cemetery is at the northern corporation line of Bowersville on St. Rte. 72. I could not find the tombstone, which may have fallen over and became half buried or may have become so weather-worn as to be illegible.) Christopher's Will is on record at the Green County Probate Court in Xenia, Ohio (Wills Book, C&D, p. 60ff.). In this will he mentions his wife, Mary, and the following children: Elizabeth Stewart, Rebecca Mickle, Anne Canaday, Mary Matthews, Elijah Hussey, Nathan Hussey, Stephen Hussey, Jane Hussey, Christopher Hussey, Jacob Hussey, Sarah Hussey and Sophia Hussey. I have not yet discovered the date of Mary Mickle Hussey's death, but she was buried in the Old Hussey Cemetery in Bowersville.
